Artist's Description

Parthenocissus quinquefolia is known as Virginia Creeper, Victoria Creeper, five-leaved ivy or five finger. While many mistake this for poison ivy it's actually in the grape family. Although some with very sensative skin do have a reaction to the sap within the leaves and stems.

Virginia Creeper is a fast growing vine and can quickly take over any area if not kept in check. I saw this specimen on a wall in the Red Rock Canyon State Park south of Hinton, OK. It's greenery really stood out and led me to capture it.
